Highest Money Market Rates Possible

Most of us are well aware of the fact that we need to save money for the important events in our lives, to buy the big ticket items we want or need and of course to retire when the time comes. In this day and age it is simply no longer enough to keep working, pay all of our bills and stay out of debt. Knowing that you need to save for so many different reasons can leave you wondering which way to turn, how you should save and if your savings are invested, how to get the highest money market rates.

As you probably already know a money market account is very similar to the savings account you started when you were a kid and have been funneling some of your money into every month ever since. You can open a money market savings account at most banks and you will find that these accounts generally offer higher rate of interest on your savings than that savings account you started many years ago.

You will find that, unlike a regular saving account however, this type of account comes with its own set of rules and regulations. The banks put these rules into place in order to encourage you to leave your money in the account for as long as possible. In most cases, these rules are put in place to ensure that you and anyone else who invests is going to get the best money market interest rates possible.

One of the most important rules and the one that helps to keep the rates at their highest is that you will only be able to make a set number of withdrawals from your account in a calendar month. In most cases the number of withdrawals is limited to no more than three, but each bank is likely to be different. Not only is this intended to encourage you to save your money for a longer period of time, it allows the bank to have access to long term funds for investment purposes, which helps them to pay the best money market rate possible.

Some banks use the tiered interest rate program to encourage you to put more money into your money market account. The more you invest, the higher the rate of interest your account is going to pay. This is very similar in effect to the CD; where the longer the term is on the CD you buy, the higher the interest rate is going to be. Don't be afraid to shop around and find the bank or financial institution that will offer you the highest money market rates available, it is your savings and you have a right to get the best bank money market rates possible on every investment you make.
